Accessibility
Effective November 4, 2026
We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or voice control.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That standard is generally used to judge website accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act and California's Unruh Civil Rights Act.
What we've done
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, shows a clear focus outline, and starts with a "Skip to main content" link.
- Text and form borders meet WCAG contrast ratios against the dark background.
- Every screenshot has a text description of what it shows.
- Form fields have visible labels. Required fields are marked. Errors are announced to screen readers and move focus to the field that needs attention.
- Animation is turned off for visitors who set "reduce motion" on their device.
- The page reflows to a phone-width screen without sideways scrolling and supports zoom up to 200%.
- We test with automated tools (axe-core) and by hand with a keyboard. The last full check was on November 4, 2026.
Known limits
The screenshots are pictures of the app. Their descriptions summarize each screen, but they don't repeat every word on it. If you need the full detail of a screen, ask us and we'll send it as text.
The Counsel Local app
This statement covers the website. We're also working to bring the desktop app up to the same standard. If something in the app gets in your way, please tell us.
Tell us about a problem
If anything on this site is hard to use, or you need information in another format, email [email protected]. Tell us the page and what happened. We'll reply within 5 business days, and we'll get you the information in a form that works for you while we fix the problem.
